DENSO International America Grants

Grant Overview


DENSO International America offers grants to qualified applicants and will consider organizations in the following locations:

  • Southeastern Michigan (North American Headquarters)
  • Waterloo, Iowa (Waterloo Operations)
  • Dublin, Ohio (DENSO Automotive Ohio)
  • Long Beach, California (Navigation Laboratories)
  • Vista, California (North America Research Laboratory)

Applying organizations should meet the following criteria:

  • Be a non-profit organization which is tax-exempt under the Internal Revenue Code, Section 501(c)(3), including local units of government (school systems, municipal governments, libraries).
  • Show how the project has broad-based community support and will have an impact on Southeastern Michigan; Waterloo, Iowa; Dublin, Ohio; Long Beach or Vista, California.
  • Addresses one or more of the three priority program areas for DENSO International America (see next section).
  • Create impact on a particular need by supporting specific projects with measurable results than general operations.

Priority will be given to proposals that address priority program areas for DENSO International America:

  • Education: Support both private and public higher education activities that promote technological understanding, research and innovation in the areas of engineering, manufacturing and science.
  • Environment: Support for activities that promote citizen based efforts to promote water quality, air quality and land preservation in Southeast Michigan.
  • Arts and Culture: We will consider special opportunities to provide support for community wide cultural initiatives as well as support for targeted local human service activities.

DENSO will not fund:

  • Organizations which descriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, disability or national origin;
  • Endowment funds;
  • Political organizations or campaigns;
  • Veterans and labor organizations, social clubs
  • Individuals
  • Charitable dinners and fund raisers
  • Programs with a secular or religious purpose;
  • Capital campaigns;
  • Conferences, trips or similar events;
  • Advertising for benefit or courtesy purposes

Because DENSO continues to receive many more requests for support htan we can possibly fulfill, we hope that you will carefully consider how your request fits into our guidelines before submitting a grant application.

A contribution by the company does not set a precedent for automatic repetition or for similar support to other organizations.
