Fifty Years of Evolving Technology
DENSO began nearly 60 years ago in Kariya, Japan, which is
over 6,000 miles from Detroit, Michigan. It must have
seemed even longer to that first DENSO associate that
traveled to the United States almost 45 years ago with thoughts
of establishing new business. A stranger in a strange
land, that first associate had a limited grasp of the
English language and little idea of just where to begin.
Perhaps it was appropriate then, that the first DENSO
product sold in the United States was a starter generator
for a chainsaw.
The starter-generator helped establish DENSO in North
America and led to further expansion. Today, DENSO is
one of the largest independent automotive suppliers of
advanced technology, systems and components worldwide,
working with all the world's car manufacturers.
