A three-acre wetland learning environment at DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc. (DMTN) is the backdrop for our non-profit partner Keep Blount Beautiful (an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful) to provide an eco-education to elementary school and home-school students. The ongoing experience that attracts hundreds of students at one time is called Waterfest.
Lessons at EcoPark take place in a pavilion-type outdoor classroom. Students learn about composting, litter prevention, recycling and pollution prevention. There is a special emphasis on storm water pollution, which was a primary focus for DENSO when developing the park.
The land is also as a refuge where native plants, grasses, trees, small wildlife and a variety of birds and insects can flourish.
