The announcement was made at the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) Show in Tampa, Fla. The expanded coverage includes three new part numbers for Class 8 engines, Volvo, Cummins and Detroit Diesel trucks. With these new applications, DENSO now offers full-line coverage of all heavy duty engines. The 12V 5.0 Offset Gear Reduction Starter is designed specifically for use on heavy duty vehicles and equipment with 10-to-16-liter diesel engines. DENSO's R5.0 Offset Gear Reduction Starter specifications include: * 12V 5.0 kW * Weight: Approximately 23 pounds * Pinion: DP6 10 tooth and M3 12 tooth (Interchangeable with competitors 11 and 12 tooth) * Rotation: Clockwise * Mount: SAE #3 -more- DENSO's new compact and lightweight design allows for easy installation, and reduces total vehicle weight. The high torque model maximizes starting power and improves cold starting, while the slow rotating engagement improves the durability of pinion and ring gear.
