A cleaner, greener filter

Kariya City, Japan - "Environmental preservation and harmony with society." That DENSO management principle can clearly be seen in a diesel particulate filter (DPF) DENSO recently developed for Toyota's Diesel Particulate-NOx Reduction (DPNR) system.Toyota has installed the DPF in a diesel vehicle running in Europe for market monitoring processes. Following the monitoring process, the DPF will be adopted for aToyota diesel vehicle with the DPNR system.

Diesel engines produce particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) which contribute to air pollution. DENSO's DPF helps remove both these substances from exhaust gas. Our filter is made of cordierite ceramic and takes a cylindrical honeycomb form with several thousand cell passages partitioned by walls. The structure removes PM and NOx through catalytic reactions as exhaust gas passes through the filter.
