Sitting with a star

DENSO Sales California (DSCA) - Now and then, DENSO’s commitment to the community is rewarded in a unique way. That happened recently in Long Beach, Calif.

For a long time, DSCA has supported the Long Beach Community Hospital Foundation through financial grants and participation on the Board of Directors. But they never realized their community involvement would lead to an encounter with a movie star!

Two DSCA associates, Mike Tanker, vice president, Materials Control Group and Fran Labun, senior manager, Commercial Group, were lucky enough to attend a benefit luncheon for the hospital hosted by actress Bo Derek. Derek’s father, who lives in Long Beach, recently suffered a heart attack and was taken to Long Beach Community Hospital for treatment. His life was saved by the fast-acting hospital staff, and he made a full recovery. As a thank you to the hospital, Derek agreed to host a luncheon to help raise money for the foundation.
