DENSO International America (DIAM)—The 35th Ryder Cup wasn’t a complete loss for the American team.
DIAM won the opportunity to bring customers to Detroit and show them appreciation and a good time in a relaxed environment.
As an official sponsor of the Ryder Cup, held in September at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., DENSO was among about 100 companies with hospitality chalets on the golf course.
More than 300 people visited DENSO’s chalet to enjoy food, refreshments and world-class golf throughout the six-day event. Visitors included many executives from DENSO’s customer companies, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, and Mayor Brenda Lawrence of Southfield.
Other automotive-related companies with chalets included Cadillac—the major Ryder Cup sponsor—Buick, Delphi, Bosch and Takata.
A hard-working committee of DIAM associates planned DENSO’s Ryder Cup sponsorship. John Voorhorst headed the committee, which was supported by Sue Johnson, John Camp, Terry Helgesen, Joe Fukue, Yuji Ishizuka, Kevin Wilson and Hiroshi Masui.
