| DENSO Manufacturing Athens Tennessee (DMAT)— Earlier
this year, DMAT earned the prestigious Volunteer STAR (Safety
Through Accountability and Recognition) award from the Tennessee
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA). This is
TOSHA’s highest award and is presented to companies that meet
strict performance-based criteria in managed health and safety
programs.
“DENSO has a remarkable safety history,” said Tennessee
Department of Labor & Workforce Development Deputy
Commissioner Bob Henningsen. “The evaluation criteria for this
award are ambitious, and DENSO has worked conscientiously to
meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”
Because DMAT met the standards for Tennessee’s Volunteer
STAR program, it automatically is included in the federal
Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Voluntary Protection
Program (VPP), and that means DMAT will be exempt from TOSHA
inspections for three years.
“This is an award that all DMAT associates have been working
toward for a long time, and it reflects their dedication to continually
improve safety and health in the workplace,” said DMAT President
Makoto “Mark” Hori.
Out of 144,000 eligible sites in Tennessee, DMAT is one of only
22 sites to receive this award. |
